Position Title: Accounting Manager
Location: Hauppauge, Long Island, NY - On-Site
Industry: Manufacturing & Distribution
A growing and established manufacturing and distribution company in Hauppauge is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead daily accounting operations and oversee the accounting team. This role requires 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing staff. The ideal candidate will remain hands-on with the accounting while providing leadership across the department.
Core Responsibilities- Lead and develop accounting staff while remaining hands-on with day-to-day accounting operations
- Oversee AP, AR, general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting, and variance analysis
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP
- Support cost accounting and inventory-related accounting
- Coordinate audit preparation and work with external auditors
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and senior leadership
- Support budgeting and forecasting
- Identify and implement accounting process and system improvements
Ideal Candidate- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing accounting staff
- Hands-on Accounting Manager or strong Senior Accountant/Accounting Supervisor ready for the next step
- Strong month-end close, GL, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting experience
- Manufacturing and/or distribution experience strongly preferred
- Cost accounting and inventory accounting experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Advanced Excel and ERP system experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA or CMA is a plus, not required
