About the Role

Director Of Field Service Engineering

Our client is a 35 year+ manufacturer of automated equipment based in Phoenix Arizona serving customers located across North America. We strive to offer solutions and programs that are unique in the industry, and feature unique attributes that give us a strong competitive edge in the marketplace.

We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Director Of Field Service Engineering to lead, manage and expand our nation-wide network of Field Service Engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and monitor the Field Service Engineering team focusing on efficient and highly productive execution of all activities.
  • Spend approximately 50% of time in the field assisting, coaching, training and directing the activities of the team.
  • Lead and direct recruiting and hiring efforts and process for bringing on additional engineering team members.
  • Implement training programs designed to orient new team members to our unique patented technologies.
  • Implement our proven process for supporting customers with regular visits to conduct training, system performance audits and preventative maintenance.
  • Support and help implement the coordinated team approach between sales reps and field service engineers in selling and implementing our solutions.
  • Elevate all field service engineers to advanced levels of PLC programming (highly preferred).
  • Provide assistance as required with technologies system demonstrations at customer sites.
  • Developing new hardware solutions for retrofits that implement our solutions. This would include helping create and fabricate customized apparatus components for unique system installations.
  • Interface with Sales, Customer Service and other Technical Support Team Members to strategize and execute successful coordinated sales, demonstration, installation, and after sales support.
  • Assist as needed with installation and servicing of automated equipment.

Required Background:

- 3+ year experience leading a technical service organization. Experience conducting periodic and annual performance reviews.

- Ability to work independently with limited supervision, to set and prioritize goals and tasks, and to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively.

- 5+ years of work experience in a hands on technical/maintenance role. This would include experience with automated equipment repair and maintenance, new equipment installation, equipment upgrades, handshake integration with other automated line systems, PLC programming (highly preferred), repair and preventative maintenance.

- Strong skills and experience with the following activities: metal working and fabrication. Equipment installation and after-sales service. Electrical controls, PLCs and hydraulics.

- Experience with cloud based process monitoring equipment and controls is a plus.

- Comfortable with basic Microsoft Office software and email.

- Strong verbal communication skills in one-on-one and group settings.

- Parts pricing and labor/travel hours billing experience.

- Familiarity with iPad based service call reporting is a plus.

- Driven and dedicated with a willingness to work occasional long hours and infrequent weekend days as needed. Excellent driving record.
