About the Role

EH&S Specialist

Carrier's North America Field Business is seeking an EH&S Specialist for our U.S. West Region. This position is responsible for the auditing, coordination and facilitation of EH&S policies and programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Carrier standards. Our functional purpose is to support Carrier's mission by creating business value through sustainable, world-class EH&S solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Regional Leadership Team in achieving regional operations success.
  • Provide support for other Company teams as needed and directed, including North America and Carrier Enterprise EHS support.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and measurement of EHS programs, strategies, policies, training, and procedures in alignment with Corporate and Business expectations.
  • Provide continual improvement opportunities through auditing, inspection and training events and facilitation support for these activities.
  • Visit markets and job sites on a regular basis to ensure effective implementation of EHS processes and programs. Identify existing or potential risks and hazards. Assist with corrective action activities for timely closeout.
  • Provide program administration support for the region and assist on the development and update of programs.
  • Foster a culture of incident, stop work and near miss reporting. Assist in investigation, root cause analysis and action planning to prevent future occurrences. Assist in bringing best practices to the region.
  • Facilitate EHS training and orientation as needed. Assist in identifying EHS related training requirements for associates and support processes to ensure training effectiveness and compliance.
  • Ensure regional markets maintain all EHS related records in compliance with local, state, and national requirements or any other regulatory agency rules and regulations.
  • Assist with contractor and subcontractor management by conducting pre-qualifications and by visiting/auditing job sites on a regular basis.
  • Participate with business teams as needed to assist in the development of safety policies and procedures, projects, campaigns, committees.
  • Coach/mentor employees on safe work practices, hazard identification and risk management. Lead by example.
  • Complete risk assessments and recommend control measures for all potential areas of concern.
  • Review and approve safety data sheets, and new chemical request process.
  • Participate with teams/committees to identify and implement EHS and sustainability improvements.
  • Support other Carrier regions as needed and directed.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of practical environmental health and safety experience
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 50%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Recognized Certification in Environmental, Safety or Health, Risk Management such as CIH, CSP, etc.
  • Previous experience in field business operation and safety programs. Multi-site coordination and travel.
  • Strong computer skill in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word) and EHS related data management systems (i.e. Enablon).
  • Ability to develop training content and deliver in-person and digitally.
  • Demonstrated success in motivating, engaging, and influencing others.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, present findings and facilitate.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.

Other Compensation

This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
