Ridgedale Middle School Technology Teacher

Technology Teacher

Qualifications:

Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate with the Computer Science Certification or Computer Science Endorsement

Knowledge of computer science, coding, robotics, and engineering design

Experience integrating technology into instruction

Ability to design and implement engaging, hands-on learning experiences

Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills

Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards and New Jersey Computer Science and Design Thinking Standards

Reports To: Principal and Supervisors

Primary Function:

The Ridgedale Middle School Computer Science Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering an innovative instructional program that develops students' skills in computer science, coding, robotics, engineering design, computational thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration.

The teacher will create engaging learning experiences that prepare students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and responsible digital citizens in a technology-driven world.

Performance Responsibilities:

Instructional Program:

Plan and implement standards-based technology instruction aligned with New Jersey Student Learning Standards and Computer Science and Design Thinking Standards.

Design and deliver lessons in coding, programming, robotics, engineering design, computational thinking, and emerging technologies.

Facilitate hands-on, project-based learning experiences that encourage creativity, innovation, and problem-solving.

Guide students through the engineering design process to identify problems, develop solutions, test prototypes, and refine designs.

Utilize robotics platforms, coding applications, and other instructional technologies to enhance student learning.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.

Incorporate real-world applications and career connections related to the computer science fields.

Promote digital citizenship, cybersecurity awareness, and responsible technology use.

Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods and utilize data to inform instruction.

Maintain a safe and organized learning environment that encourages exploration, collaboration, and innovation.

Program Development and Collaboration:

Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to integrate computer science concepts across content areas.

Support district initiatives related to technology integration, innovation, and instructional technology.

Assist in the development, maintenance, and organization of robotics equipment, and technology resources.

Participate in curriculum development, review, and revision activities.

Stay current with advancements in computer science, robotics, and instructional technology.

General Classroom Teacher Responsibilities:

Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

Create an environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and student engagement.

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, achievement, and progress.

Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and program activities.

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and school committees as assigned.

Adhere to all Board policies, administrative regulations, and school procedures.

Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or Supervisors.

Terms of Employment: Ten-month position in accordance with the negotiated agreement and Board policies.

Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with Board policy, administrative regulations, and applicable New Jersey regulations.
