About the Role

WA State Certified Teachers Wanted

Washington Virtual Academies (WAVA), an Alternative Learning Environment (ALE) program of Omak School District, is seeking motivated and energetic WA State certified teachers to work in our innovative on-line educational environment. WAVA's mission is to empower every student for success in learning, work and life. WAVA's core belief is that ALL students are capable of success – no exceptions. WAVA teachers work primarily from their homes and must reside in WA State.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Provide synchronous core and supplemental content instruction through appropriate instructional technology.
  • Have a working knowledge of the K12 curriculum and Online School as it relates to their grade and subject level assignment
  • Be knowledgeable about Common Core State Standards
  • Support parents with student placement, online school set up, curriculum and instructional issues
  • Conduct onboarding activities for homeroom students during startup of school year
  • Collect and evaluate work samples per school policy
  • Participate in the school's Student Improvement Plan (SIP)
  • Develop effective instructional tools and strategies to supplement and enhance provided curriculum
  • Initiate, monitor, and document required home-school communications
  • Review overall student progress and conduct progress conferences with learning coaches to assess each student's learning, progress, learning style, and any other relevant academic, social, or developmental issues
  • Respond within 24 hours to parent inquiries during regular work week
  • Attend scheduled virtual and face-to-face staff meetings
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers to develop and deliver appropriate instruction to student to best meet individual needs
  • Professionally and effectively communicate in writing to students, families and staff
  • Develop and maintain appropriate documentation
  • Develop and maintain Individualized Learning Plans (ILP's)
  • Alert support team of any concerns about student progress and attendance
  • Log compliance notes for assigned homeroom students
  • Process student change in placement, as needed
  • Complete semester and end of year report cards
  • Organize orientation, training, social, and educational activities for students and families
  • Support students in school activities such as open houses, expos, information sessions, state assessments and orientations
  • Actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLC's)
  • Participate on IEP/RTI/504 teams for students with special needs
  • Work with the assessment team to communicate and prepare students for state assessments
  • Serve as proctor for site-based proctored exams.
  • Provide instructional opportunities for students to prepare for state assessments
  • Assess students per WAVA policy for all state and school wide assessments
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements
  • Master's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of teaching experience
  • Shared view of the virtual academy's mission
  • Strong content and subject-matter knowledge
  • An ability to support and guide adults as well as students
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organization and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook, and experience using them in a professional capacity
  • Experience working with students in Alternative Learning Environments preferred
  • Experience using a variety of web-based technology preferred
  • Experience using a student information system and/or other type of database preferred
  • An ability to support adults with basic computer set-up and navigation preferred
Work Calendar:

1.0 FTE in line with the approved 2026-2027 WAVA School Calendar. Teachers will be available from 8-4 each school day to complete required tasks & responsibilities.
