About the Role

Description

ABOUT US

Imagine coming to work each day, excited to tackle challenges alongside a team that's just as driven and passionate as you are. We're LIVIC Civil-a tight-knit firm with a mission to guide our clients to success, whether through civil engineering, land development, traffic and transportation engineering, GIS, survey, or landscape design. With several of our biggest projects yet on the horizon, we're looking for someone ready to grow with us and help make a lasting impact.

This role isn't for everyone. If you:
  • Settle for "good enough,"
  • Avoid taking on new challenges,
  • Struggle with constructive feedback, or
  • Prefer working solo instead of on a team,
then this might not be the right fit. But if you're a fast learner, adaptable, and eager to research, problem-solve, and contribute to something bigger, you may be exactly who we're looking for.

WHO WE ARE

LIVIC Civil is Not Your Ordinary Civil Engineering Firm. Since our founding in 2017, we've partnered with clients who share our values of integrity, hard work, and responsiveness, delivering projects that go beyond expectations. As a small, agile firm, we're committed to evolving quickly, achieving exceptional results that set us apart.

JOB SUMMARY

LIVIC Civil is looking to fill a full-time Senior Bridge Engineer position for our growing transportation department. Do you thrive in highly effective teams while also independently contributing to the team's success? Are you seeking opportunities to work on a wide variety of projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for working on PennDOT and municipal owned bridge and culvert projects, be a team player, and be enthusiastic in working with other engineers, project managers, and other technical staff assisting with planning, designing, and overseeing civil engineering projects, such as the inspection, load rating and design of new bridges and bridges to be rehabilitated.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design bridge structures using engineering software and advanced structural engineering principles to provide engineering solutions for assessment, evaluation, design, rehabilitation, and strengthening of bridges and other transportation structures
  • Participate in the production of project plans, specifications, technical reports and cost estimates.
  • Be involved in all project aspects including inspection/load-rating/design, site/field visits/inspections, shop drawing review, and be able to work independently.
  • Efficiently produce quality deliverables while meeting budget and schedules on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor entry level staff and be responsible for entry level staff job tasks.
  • Ability to provide QA/QC on design calculations, design plans, inspection reports, load rating calculations and reports etc.
  • Serve as a structural engineer and task leader for bridge design, culvert design, retaining wall design, as well as for bridge inspection projects.
PATHWAYS FOR GROWTH

At LIVIC, we offer a unique opportunity to turn the skills and connections you've worked so hard to build into something extraordinary. Your career so far has been about mastering the entitlement process, growing your network, and navigating the complexities of the regulatory landscape. These experiences have set you apart and positioned you to lead with confidence. Now, we invite you to build on that foundation, taking the next step to lead your own group and create a lasting impact-all with the support and resources of a thriving, innovative firm.

You'll not only oversee impactful projects but also have the chance to grow into a leader of your own specialized practice within our company. Here's how we'll help you succeed:
  • Lead Your Own Practice - Take ownership of your projects, grow your client portfolio, and guide your own team while shaping the vision for your practice.
  • Comprehensive Back-Office Support - Focus on leadership and engineering while we handle marketing, IT, accounting, HR, and recruiting to support your growth.
  • Share in the Success - Benefit directly from the success of your practice with profit-sharing opportunities that reward your results.
  • Build & Lead Your Team - Recruit, mentor, and inspire your team of engineers and professionals, creating a high-performing group aligned with your goals and shared company guide vision.
  • Low Risk, High Reward - Enjoy the rewards of leadership and entrepreneurship without the financial risks of starting on your own.
This is a rare chance to combine your technical expertise, leadership skills, and entrepreneurial vision in a supportive environment where you can thrive and grow. At LIVIC, we don't just offer a job-we offer the opportunity to build and lead something truly your own while leveraging the foundation you've worked so hard to create.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required:
  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or 10+ years of experience in similar role
  • Experience working with the broad range of PennDOT and industry accepted software such as AASHTOWare Bridge Design and Rating, BRADD, CSiBridge, LUSAS, STADD and Midas
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley suite of programs (InRoads, OpenRoads, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams).
  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in the use of AASHTO LRFD and LFD Bridge Design Specifications.
  • Must be flexible, well organized, accountable, and dependable.
  • Preferred:
  • 7 or more years of Bridge Design, Bridge Rehabilitation Design, Inspection, and Load Rating experience. (Pennsylvania Preferred but other DOT experience will be considered)
  • Professional Engineer License (PA or ability to obtain through reciprocity within 6-months)
  • Certified Bridge Safety Inspector is a plus.
