Production Support Engineer (Web/API)
Position: Production Support Engineer (Web/API)
Location: Halifax, CA (Remote)
Duration: 13 Months
Job Description: Day to Day Job Duties: (what this person will do on a daily/weekly basis) Provide L2/L3 production support for web applications and RESTful APIs.Monitor application health, API performance, and system availability using monitoring tools.Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents within defined SLAs.Analyze application logs, API requests/responses, and database queries to identify root causes.Perform system and data validation to ensure accuracy and integrity across integrated systems.Support deployment activities, hotfix releases, and post-release validations.
Work closely with development, DevOps, and QA teams to resolve defects and prevent recurring issues.Coordinate with business stakeholders during incident resolution and provide status updates.Maintain detailed incident documentation, RCA reports, and knowledge base articles.Identify opportunities to automate monitoring, alerting, and support processes.Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations or weekend support as required.
Basic Qualifications: (what are the skills required to this job with minimum years of experience on each) Minimum 4+ years of experience in production/application support for web and API-based systems.Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, HTTP methods, status codes, and API authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, etc.).Minimum 3+ years of hands-on SQL experience for data validation and issue troubleshooting.Experience using API testing tools such as Postman or SoapUI.Experience analyzing logs using tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or CloudWatch.Familiarity with CI/CD processes and release management workflows.
Experience with incident management and ticketing tools (ServiceNow, Jira, etc.).Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.Degree: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
Nice to Have; (But not a must) Experience supporting microservices-based architectures. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes). Basic scripting knowledge (Python, Shell scripting). Experience in financial services, insurance, or other regulated industries.
