Chemical Technician

Job Description:

• This position will support the plant in the role of water plant operation, laboratory duties, and environmental duties while maintaining client Values.

Responsibilities:

• Learn and ensure operation of water treatment plant to meet needs of steam units, combustion turbine units, and filter water / fire water system.
• Learn to operate drinking water system to meet potable water nees while meeting ADEM requirements.
• Lab duties to include boiler water analysis to ensure protection of plant assets while meeting requirements of GEN 6500, instrumentation calibration and maintenance.
• Ability to analyze data and make sound recommendations for unit operation.
• Willingness to work in a group and take on additional roles to support the department success.

Experience:

• Industrial experience preferred.
• Oral and written communication skills. - Required.
• Proficient use of computer applications.
• Must have good problem solving / analytical skills and be able to trouble shoot complex systems.
• Boiler water analysis and testing including QA/QC
• Ability to operate and maintain bench top and inline analyzers
• Must have working knowledge of safe work procedures

Skills:

• Water treatment plant operations.
• Capable of becoming certified.
• ADEM Water Operator (Grade II).

Education:

• BS in chemistry or related field, minimum of 12 semester hours in chemistry required.
