Job Description:
Job Title: Engineering Manager, API & Integration Platforms Client: WelbeHealth PACE Location: Remote (US Only) Position Type: Full-Time Interview Mode: Video
Role Overview: WelbeHealth is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to serve as the technical anchor for the API & Integration Platforms team. This unique role balances people leadership with active engineering contributions, driving the architecture of secure, compliant, and scalable AI/ML-enabled services that directly impact senior healthcare outcomes.
Required Qualifications (Must-Haves):
Prior experience in Healthcare or API-heavy environments.
10+ years of Software Engineering experience.
3+ years in a Senior or Leadership Engineering role (e.g., Tech Lead, EM, or Lead Engineer).
2+ years of hands-on experience with AI/ML or related integration frameworks (e.g., Azure AI, ML pipelines, LLMs).
Strong proficiency in Python and/or Node.js for API development.
Extensive hands-on experience with the Microsoft Azure ecosystem (App Services, Functions, APIM, Entra ID).
Experience designing REST/GraphQL APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems.
Deep knowledge of Healthcare Interoperability Standards (FHIR, HL7, EDI) and HIPAA compliance.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership: Lead end-to-end architecture and contribute directly to code, system design, and complex troubleshooting.
AI & MLOps: Implement MLOps practices for model deployment and build PoCs to validate AI-driven solutions.
Team Mentorship: Foster a culture of continuous improvement and serve as the technical escalation point for the engineering team.
Security & Compliance: Ensure all systems align with PHI/PII requirements and healthcare industry standards.
Collaboration: Partner with Product, Security, and Cloud teams to define global integration strategies.
Preferred Skills:
Master's Degree in a related field.
Familiarity with MLOps tools such as Azure ML, MLflow, or Databricks.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in cloud-native environments.
