Job Description
The advanced practice clinician works as a core member of a multidisciplinary health care team, providing comprehensive inpatient neurosurgical care.
Responsibilities
- Perform complete history & physicals; order and collect data with appropriate assessment techniques.
- Serve as first responder for patient status changes, supporting procedural and resuscitative interventions.
- Assess risks associated with acute and complex chronic patients, including medication side effects, immobility, nutrition, fluid/electrolyte balance, immune status, invasive interventions, and diagnostic procedures.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to make diagnoses of acute and complex chronic conditions; manage diagnostic tests through ordering, interpretation, performance, and supervision.
- Formulate differential diagnoses by priority and diagnose complications, ordering appropriate interventions.
- Identify expected outcomes and formulate & document a dynamic plan of care using evidence‑based guidelines; implement and modify plan as needed.
- Prescribe diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions; perform advanced procedures within scope of privileges.
- Maintain ongoing communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary team; facilitate communication with patient, family, and staff to promote continuity of care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Document key components of patient progress via daily progress notes, transfer, discharge summaries, and clinic notes in the medical record, ensuring timely, compliant documentation that captures patient acuity.
- Demonstrate professional practice behaviors: preceptor/mentoring, education, instruction of graduate students; seek research and evidence‑based practice opportunities; participate in grand rounds and specialty‑specific meetings; maintain CEUs and membership in a professional organization.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree.
- National Board Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- BLS certification.
- Work shift: rotating (United States).
