Prepress & Digital Print Technician

We are currently seeking a Prepress & Digital Print Technician to join our team. The Prepress & Digital Print Technician pre-flights, troubleshoots, prepares and imposes files for output and finish processing while also operating and managing digital print equipment and workflows. This position is responsible for the processing of files as they move from planning to production. This includes file downloading, file preflight, file processing and ripping, color and type corrections, proofing, generating impositions, digital press operation, and printing.

  • Read and follow Job Jacket instructions and double-check work for accuracy.
  • Prepare artwork for offset and digital output.
  • Create print-ready files for customer review and approval.
  • Review supplied files for potential issues and communicate concerns proactively.
  • Modify supplied artwork based on customer requests and production requirements.
  • Communicate preflight concerns and file corrections with customers and internal teams.
  • Maintain a high level of quality, accuracy, productivity, and attention to detail.
  • Impose files for press, signature, and flat-based work.
  • Process, burn, and label plates for the press room.
  • Operate and maintain digital printing equipment and workflow systems.
  • Monitor digital press performance, troubleshoot print quality issues, and ensure color consistency.
  • Manage digital print queues, RIP software, and production scheduling to meet deadlines.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration on digital equipment to maximize uptime and quality.
  • High level of accuracy, exceptional organizational skills, and strong attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of prepress and workflow software including Acrobat, Adobe Creative Suite, PitStop, EVO, Prinergy, or similar systems.
  • Proficient in file preparation for both offset and digital printing processes.
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting digital print equipment preferred.
  • Strong graphic design background and knowledge of standard design applications.
  • Knowledge of color separations, screens, dot gain, resolution, and color management workflows.
  • Ability to accurately check files for color separations, fonts, links, document size, bleeds, and print specifications.
  • Understanding of digital press workflows, RIP software, and variable data printing is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
