About the Role
Environmental & Social Intern
ESS is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental & Social (E&S) Intern to support our teams in the relevant countries. The intern will assist the Environmental & Social team in implementing and monitoring sustainability initiatives, ensuring compliance with both local regulations and international standards (e.g., IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles).
This is a valuable opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to gain hands-on experience in environmental and social management in the natural resources and infrastructure sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Support environmental and social baseline data collection and reporting.
Assist in monitoring compliance with Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMP).
Contribute to stakeholder engagement activities, including preparation of meeting notes and follow-up actions.
Support grievance mechanism tracking and resolution documentation.
Assist in the organization and documentation of Environmental, Social, Health & Safety (ESHS) training.
Participate in environmental monitoring (water, waste, biodiversity) under supervision.
Contribute to drafting progress reports, presentations, and knowledge-sharing materials.
Provide administrative and logistical support to the E&S team on site.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or final year student) in Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Sustainability, or a related field.
Strong interest in environmental and social sustainability, with some academic or internship experience preferred.
Good communication and writing skills in French; proficiency in English is an advantage.
Knowledge of local Gabonese context and languages is a plus.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work in multicultural teams.
Willingness to be based in project areas, including rural settings.
