Job Summary
The Art Teacher is responsible for providing a high-quality visual arts education to students in grades 5 8. This role requires a creative educator who can foster a love for the arts while integrating Catholic values and teachings into the curriculum. The candidate will manage a classroom environment that encourages spiritual growth, artistic expression, and technical skill development.
Key Responsibilities
Foster an exciting, dynamic, and creative learning environment wherein the teaching of skills, techniques and a passion for art are paramount, while instilling pride in the program among students and the greater community.
Demonstrate extensive knowledge of middle school art techniques and pedagogy in a studio setting.
Actively engage students in the curriculum and concepts through varied and differentiated instruction.
Develop and implement a visual arts curriculum that covers art history, theory, and various media (drawing, painting, ceramics, digital art).
Incorporate Catholic identity into the arts, such as exploring liturgical seasons through projects or studying the history of Sacred Art.
Maintain a safe, organized, and respectful studio environment conducive to creativity and Catholic discipline.
Evaluate student progress through portfolios, projects, and critiques, providing constructive feedback that encourages growth.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.
Certification: Valid state teaching certification (K 8 or K 12 Visual Arts).
Experience: Previous experience teaching middle-school-aged children is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in a wide range of artistic techniques and materials.
Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning styles.
Strong communication skills for interacting with parents and administration.
