Join Engineered Comfort Solutions as a Commercial HVAC Service Technician!
Job Title: Commercial HVAC Service Technician
Company Name: Engineered Comfort Solutions
Pay Range: $25.00 - $55.00 per hour, based on experience
Office Location: Taylor, MI
Service Location: Southeast, MI
Job Overview
At ECS, maintaining equipment is part of the role; owning the continued improvement of system reliability, customer confidence, documentation, and field execution is the standard. You own the customer outcome from first response through diagnosis, repair, verification, and follow-through. We want an experienced technician who solves difficult commercial and industrial problems and is ready to grow into controls, mentoring, lead responsibility, or field leadership as capability and opportunity align.
Why ECS
For more than 30 years, Engineered Comfort Systems has supported complex commercial and industrial environments with mechanical systems, HVAC service, automation controls, responsive communication, and disciplined documentation. ECS is building its next stage of growth by adding people who want responsibility, development, and the chance to influence what comes next. Learn more at www.ecshvac.com.
What You Will Own
- Diagnose, repair, maintain, and improve commercial and industrial HVAC systems with urgency, discipline, and sound technical judgment.
- Respond to customers clearly, set expectations, and protect trust even when the final repair cannot happen immediately.
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections that identify risk before failure becomes downtime.
- Create accurate service records, material documentation, and next-step recommendations another team member can act on.
- Follow ECS safety standards and applicable industry requirements on every job.
- Collaborate with project managers, dispatch, controls specialists, and other technicians to deliver a complete solution.
- Participate in emergency response, on-call rotation, overtime, and occasional weekend work as required.
- Continue developing through technical, controls, manufacturer, OSHA, fall-protection, and lift training.
What Winning Looks Like
- The customer knows what is happening, what happens next, and who owns it.
- Your diagnosis addresses the cause, not just the symptom.
- Work is safe, complete, documented, and communicated before the job is considered finished.
- Every visit leaves the system, documentation, and next-action plan stronger than you found them.
- You become the technician customers trust and teammates want beside them on a hard call.
- Your technical capability and responsibility increase because your habits prove you are ready.
You Will Thrive Here If
- You bring a successful attitude to difficult work and stay persistent when the first answer is not the right answer.
- You are consistent, disciplined, dependable, and personally accountable for your communication and results.
- You want to increase your skill, earning power, and value rather than protect the status quo.
- You can work independently without becoming disconnected from the team.
- You understand that response, documentation, and customer confidence are part of the technical job.
This will not fit: If you believe communication, documentation, or follow-through belongs to somebody else, this is not your role.
Required Experience and Credentials
- Minimum 3 years of commercial or industrial HVAC service experience.
- Strong troubleshooting ability and technical knowledge of commercial/industrial HVAC systems.
- EPA HVAC certification and a valid driver's license.
- Strong customer communication, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
What ECS Provides
- Hourly pay of $25.00-$55.00, based on experience.
- Stable, year-round commercial and industrial work.
- 100% employer-paid employee medical, dental, vision insurance; HSA and FSA programs.
- Life, and disability insurance options.
- 401(k) retirement program with employer match and an employer-contribution retirement Cash Plan.
- Paid time-off and holidays.
- Tuition reimbursement, technical training, controls-development opportunities, and manufacturer training.
- Travel per diem, relocation assistance, company vehicle or mileage reimbursement, uniforms, safety equipment, smartphone, and tablet.
Schedule and Location
- Full-time, Monday through Friday, primarily 8-hour day shifts.
- Field service throughout Southeast Michigan.
- On-call rotation, overtime, and occasional weekends as needed.
- Southeast Florida project travel or relocation opportunities may be available based on business needs and mutual fit.
How to Apply
Submit your resume and a short response to this question: What is the most difficult commercial HVAC issue you diagnosed? How did you isolate the cause, communicate with the customer, and finish the job?
We are looking for ownership, thought process, and proof that you finish what you start.
