About the Role

Technical Project Engineer – Industrial Water Treatment

Location: Home-based - North Italy Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary range: 40,000 - 50,000 EUR per annum

Collective Labour Agreement: CCNL Chemical Industry

Solenis is currently seeking a Technical Project Engineer to support the European Equipment Sales strategy for the South Europe region. This role is ideal for a technically strong and field-oriented engineer who enjoys managing complex industrial water treatment projects from concept through commissioning.

This is a home-based position in North Italy, with regular travel across the territory.

Key Responsibilities

As Technical Project Engineer, you will play a central role in the successful execution of industrial water treatment projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Engineering team from the early stages of project opportunities, clarifying scope, identifying technical risks, and defining optimal technical solutions to create competitive advantage.
  • Conducting or supervising onsite surveys, basic design, and system conception, ensuring the best balance between CAPEX and OPEX.
  • Evaluating technical specifications and purchase order requirements, defining project schedules, execution timelines, and staffing needs.
  • Preparing technical specifications and procedures for project execution in collaboration with Engineering, supporting the Procurement team during supplier selection and PO issuance.
  • Monitoring work in progress, reviewing project specifications, and coordinating with internal and external Engineering/Service teams.
  • Inspecting construction sites to verify compliance with design specifications and correct equipment installation.
  • Leading installation, start-up, commissioning activities, and final performance sign-off.
  • Providing technical assistance on existing OEM contracts, including troubleshooting and diagnostics, coordinating internal or external resources as needed.
  • Managing subcontractor relationships, ensuring alignment with Solenis' core values and project standards.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within Operation & Maintenance contracts and strengthening the company's Solutions Provider strategy.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a motivated and technically competent professional with:

  • A degree in Technical Engineering, with proven experience in water process selection, design, and implementation of industrial water treatment systems (including F&B applications) and chemical injection packages.
  • 1–2 years of experience in Electrical and Automation systems is highly desirable. Alternatively, Mechanical Engineers with 2–4 years of water treatment experience will also be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, piping, electrical components, material compatibility, and chemical applications.
  • Familiarity with control and monitoring instrumentation, both local and remote modes. Digital capabilities are essential for project implementation.
  • Awareness of relevant international standards and certifications for equipment construction.
  • Fluency in Italian (mandatory) and English.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time, mainly within Italy.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
