About the Role
AI Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled AI Engineer to design and build production-grade AI-powered applications within a large-scale enterprise environment. This role involves working on a cross-functional pod to build complex, integration-heavy digital platforms, including AI-native systems like agentic learning platforms. The focus is on enhancing existing systems with high reliability, performance, and scalability while delivering high-quality features across various domains.
Responsibilities
Contribute to designing and implementing agentic AI patterns, including digital twins and intelligent member-facing systems.
Enhance existing production systems with a focus on reliability, performance, and scalability.
Deliver high-quality features across backend, APIs, orchestration, integrations, cloud deployment, and frontend work.
Engage in solution-driven conversations with stakeholders as this is a client-facing role.
Design and build AI-powered applications to transform member experiences, focusing on an AI assistant for claims processing and a comprehensive health profile platform.
Essential Skills
Experience building production backends using AWS Serverless, including Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.
Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code, with personal experience authoring CloudFormation or Terraform from scratch.
Integration of LLM into production systems at the architectural level.
Ability to define system architecture from scratch.
Competency in full-stack and API development, including RESTful APIs.
Experience with production-grade engineering practices, including Docker, testing, scalability, performance, and reliability.
Strong client-facing skills and conversational communication.
Additional Skills and Qualifications
Experience in a HIPAA-regulated environment with direct responsibility for compliance controls.
Familiarity with Python.
Healthcare or government experience with sensitive data handling.
Work Environment
Work within a strong AWS-backed environment as part of a team of approximately 30 engineers, including new additions. The role offers opportunities to transition to additional high-impact AI projects. The work environment encourages collaboration within cross-functional pods and exposure to cutting-edge LLM and agentic AI implementations. The position is remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere.
Job Type & Location
This is a permanent position based out of Calgary, AB.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $190,000.00 - $215,000.00/yr.
Workplace Type
This is a fully remote position.
