Our client in Taylor is in need of an experienced Material Planner for their fabrication facility. This position is days shift (8a-5p), Monday-Friday with possible overtime, $20 - $21.00 per hour.
The purpose of this job is to write work orders based on customer demand, follow jobs in progress and to effectively communicate with purchasing, manufacturing and customers in order to assure timely production and delivery of manufactured parts.
Essential functions of the job include:
Interacting with various personnel to determine the need for purchased and manufactured parts in connection with specific customer's orders (production planning).
Following and communicating the status of jobs/orders through delivery.
Tracking and controlling raw materials and working process throughout the production process (production planning).
Monitoring production and working with manufacturing and other departments to ensure timely completion of customer releases for shipment of product.
Scheduling jobs to ensure just in time delivery of raw materials and adequate lead time for various manufacturing departments.
Collaborating with customers on release schedule changes.
Coordinating outbound shipments as needed.
Communicating production status and shipment dates to customers.
Participating in periodic status meetings with customers throughout the production process (liaison).
Investigating and resolving any customer discrepancies in quantity or quality; performing other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Skills which are part of the essential functions include the ability to:
Communicate effectively with other employees, management, customers and suppliers regarding company needs using superior communication skills (reading, writing and editing grammatically correct routine business correspondence and speaking clearly and distinctly using appropriate vocabulary and grammar).
Manage and record data as directed in writing and electronically.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees, supervisors and executives.
Understand and apply company policies, specifications, quality and time of delivery requirements.
Review sources of materials and services to assure it meets with company and customer needs utilizing print and electronic media.
Place and follow up on work orders written.
Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
Work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with the flexibility to prioritize duties and multi-task at different levels.
