About the Role

Job Summary

The School of Arts & Sciences at Columbia College seeks applications for adjunct faculty who can teach general education in-seat and online classes in the areas of Math, Communication, American Sign Language, Spanish, French, History, Philosophy, Religion, Sociology, Psychology, Art, Dance, English (First-Year Writing), English (General Education Literature), Music, Theater, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Graphic Design, Social Work, and Culture and Media Studies.

Minimum Requirements

Master's degree in any field including or in addition to 18 hours of graduate credits earned in the discipline in which the course(s) will be taught. A master's degree in the field of study is highly preferred. Priority will be given to applicants with prior college teaching experience and familiarity with an LMS such as Canvas. Instructors are expected to adhere to all college policies and procedures, teach in accordance with established course goals and student learning outcomes, and uphold the mission and values of Columbia College.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to meet schedules and timelines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; excellent interpersonal skills.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires sedentary work that involves walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling some of the time and requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.

The successful candidate must arrange for all official undergraduate and graduate transcripts to be sent to the Provost's Office at provost@columbiasc.edu.
