About the Role

Power Electronics Engineer

We are looking for a motivated power electronics engineer to manage service contracts, on-site activities, and support/participate in the commissioning of FACTS (Flexible Alternative Current Transmission System) & HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) equipment atour clients' sites.This is a key role within GE's service execution organization (OTR phase) where you will be responsible for leading the technical part of multi-year service contracts, supporting clients located in different countries.

This role is also an opportunity to be part of a community of experts capable of providing support to clients worldwide in high-tech equipment.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Perform and lead maintenance, on-site activities & technical support for FACTS & HVDC transmission systems
  • Manage preparations for on-site activities in coordination with the final client
  • Carry out commissioning activities for FACTS & HVDC transmission systems
  • Lead the technical part of ongoing and future service contracts
  • Assist and lead meetings with clients, identifying solutions that meet their needs
  • Know and be able to carry out FACTS renovation and minor upgrade projects
  • Provide technical support to the ITO team (pre-project phase) as needed during tenders

FACTS & HVDC solutions include: SVC (Static Var Compensation) / Static Var Compensator FSC (Fix Series Compensation) / Fixed Series Compensation Module SC (Synchronous Condenser) / Synchronous Condenser STATCOM (Static Compensation) / Voltage Converter LCC HVDC (Line-Commutated Converters) / Line-Commutated Converters VSC HVDC (Voltage Source Converters) Onshore & Offshore / Voltage Source Converters

Profile & Skills Required:

  • You are a power electronics engineer (due to your initial training or you have developed a good technical understanding during your career)
  • You have proven experience in equivalent positions
  • You have technical knowledge and on-site experience related to transmission equipment, FACTS equipment, commissioning of protection relays, troubleshooting using recorders and/or network analyzers
  • You are able, thanks to your technical knowledge, to solve on-site problems/incidents and analyze reports
  • You know electrical risks and how to manage them
  • You have a high level of EHS culture and strictly apply EHS rules during an on-site incident and/or under client pressure
  • Your oral and written communication is solid
  • You stand out for your ability to analyze and solve problems
  • You can manage/plan on-site activities, document them, and write reports
  • You have project management skills
  • You have managed or managed on-site teams
  • You are recognized for your strong client management skills, especially on-site during an incident
  • You enjoy teamwork and sharing your knowledge/experiences with colleagues
  • You are available to travel to client sites (~80% of the time)
  • You speak English fluently
  • Knowledge of rotating machines would be an asset
