A Day in the Life of Production Engineer:

As a Product Engineer, you will be required to handle complex support tickets requiring deep technical expertise, particularly in SQL troubleshooting, database performance tuning, cloud infrastructure (AWS), patch management, system upgrades, and migrations. This role involves analysing and resolving critical application and database issues, optimizing performance, executing upgrades and patches, and ensuring seamless data migrations and refreshes between environments. You will also be co-ordinating with end users to provide them updates and resolve simple to complex application and environment related issues.

So, how are we going to keep you busy?

Database Administration, Maintenance & Performance Tuning

Configure and manage SQL Server databases (SSMS, SQL Administration), ensuring high availability, security, and performance. Perform database maintenance, including log file management, index rebuilding, and health monitoring to enhance performance and stability. Implement best practices for database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning and perform disaster recovery tests to ensure application resilience. Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities by reviewing repetitive maintenance tasks, configuring monitoring alerts, and proposing permanent solutions to strengthen system stability.

Patch Management & Upgrades

Analyse, prepare, and execute application patches and upgrades, ensuring minimal downtime while taking end-to-end ownership of the tasks and collaboration with customer and R&D teams to plan patch or release upgrade rollouts in non-production and production environments by following Telarix engineering best practices. Troubleshoot issues related to third-party software upgrades, patch failures, and post-upgrade performance, and document resolutions and recurring issues for future reference.

Migrations & Data Refresh

Plan and execute data refreshes between different environments (e.g., UAT, Staging, Production), database migrations across on-premises, cloud (AWS, Azure), and hybrid environments. Provision and manage AWS-hosted database infrastructure, including EC2, EBS, and backup/restore processes and optimize resource utilization, scaling, and performance tuning for cloud-based applications.

Technical Support

Lead customer communication and provide regular updates on issue resolution, collaborating closely with internal teams such as R&D and Pre-Sales. Diagnose and troubleshoot SQL Server, Windows, and database performance issues, including query optimization, deadlocks, blocking, and bottlenecks.

What will make you eligible for this role?

Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field. 5+ years of experience in technical support, engineering support, or database administration.

Experience, that will be an advantage:

Proven experience in customer support, preferably in a global environment. Strong experience in Windows, Linux, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL, SSMS. Experience in patch management, software upgrades, and database migrations. Hands-on experience with AWS configuring and monitoring (EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, backup & recovery strategies). Hands on experience with MicroStrategy, Python, and Docker instances

What will make you the best-fit for this role?

Database Administration skills (backup, maintenance plans, indexing, security). Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing performance issues, query tuning, and system bottlenecks. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data-driven decision-making. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in root cause analysis (RCA) and providing long-term fixes. Strong documentation and communication skills. Certification in SQL, Microsoft technologies and/or AWS are a plus.
