About the Role

Senior Engineering Manager

This is a High-Stakes Leadership role. We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager who thrives at the intersection of technical architecture and aggressive client delivery. You will own the end-to-end execution of complex digital products, leading cross-functional teams while maintaining the technical depth to make, review, and override decisions — not just facilitate them.

This is not a coordination or "people-only" role. You are the ultimate person responsible for the technical health, the delivery timeline, and the client's trust.

What to Expect in This Role (Responsibilities)

1. Engineering Governance & Technical Authority

  • Architectural Oversight: Maintain enough hands-on depth to challenge technical proposals, audit architecture decisions, and jump into the codebase when critical blockers arise.

  • Standards Enforcement: Define and strictly enforce engineering standards, code quality practices, and high-performance delivery cadences.

  • Modernization: Drive the adoption of cloud-native, microservices, and API-first architectures without losing sight of implementation details.

  • Technical Trade-offs: Make hard, pragmatic decisions between technical debt, velocity, and scalability, and defend those decisions before senior stakeholders.

2. Operational & Delivery Excellence

  • SDLC Ownership: Full accountability for the Software Development Life Cycle across multiple accounts: from rigorous planning to incident response and retrospection.

  • Resource & Budget Optimization: Manage capacity, velocity, and budgets across parallel workstreams, ensuring maximum efficiency without sacrificing quality.

  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify, surface, and neutralize technical or delivery risks; you are responsible for ensuring the client is never surprised by a delay or a technical failure.

  • Performance Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed team (8–15 engineers), identifying underperformance early and fostering a culture of high-stakes delivery.

3. Strategic Client Partnership

  • C-Level Interlocutor: Act as the primary technical point of contact for CTOs and VPs of Engineering, earning trust through technical competence and honest communication.

  • Alignment: Translate abstract business goals into concrete engineering priorities and vice versa.

  • Account Growth: Identify technical opportunities within your accounts by understanding the client's roadmap and proposing high-impact technical solutions.

Requirements
  • Technical Foundation: 7+ years in software engineering with a proven track record of building scalable systems.

  • Leadership Depth: 3+ years as an Engineering Manager or Tech Lead Manager, managing distributed teams under high-pressure delivery cycles.

  • Stack Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience with at least one core stack: Java, Python, or Node.js (you must be able to conduct deep-dive code reviews).

  • Architecture: Solid experience in Cloud-native, Microservices, and API design.

  • Client Management: Experience managing senior-level stakeholders (C-level/VP) in a consulting or digital transformation environment.

  • Communication: Fluent English (written and spoken) is mandatory for managing international client relationships.

Nice to Have
  • Direct delivery experience with AWS and/or Azure.

  • Exposure to Data platforms, AI/ML product delivery, or advanced DevSecOps practices.

  • Background in large-scale Enterprise Digital Transformation programs.

Benefits
  • 100% remote work.

  • Long-term engagement with high impact and autonomy.

  • Strategic and high-visibility role within a modern engineering culture.

  • Opportunity to influence technical and business strategy.

  • Collaborative international team with strong technical leadership.

  • Clear growth path and leadership opportunities within Coderio.

Why Join Coderio?

At Coderio, we value talent regardless of location. We are a fully remote company, passionate about technology, collaboration, and fair compensation. We offer an inclusive and challenging environment with real growth opportunities. If you are motivated to design solutions that make a difference, we are waiting for you.
