Senior Supplier Quality Engineer - Large Forged Parts
Drive quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation. Select suppliers through qualification processes. Own supplier results, drive improvements utilizing supplier scorecards. The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) – forged parts, is responsiblefor:
- Driving quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation
- Collaborating with Engineering and Sourcing to select and approve suppliers through approval and qualification processes
- Owning supplier assessments, part/process qualification supplier results
- Driving improvements utilizing supplier scorecards
- Owning ongoing supplier audits, and supplier monitoring ensuring compliance, and driving improvement plans where needed
The role will work in full alignment and close collaboration with internal stakeholders including sourcing, engineering, manufacturing and project management to enable project execution excellence. The scope of activities includes supplier product qualification, audit, surveillance, quality issue resolution and root cause investigation.
What You'll Do:
- Be the primary interface between critical suppliers & engineering requirements
- Manage supplier quality, supplier performance, including formal Supplier Quality Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) as appropriate
- Set qualification- surveillance strategy
- Manage new supplier identification & development
- Manage new Technology introduction & qualification
- Lead supplier quality reviews
- Be the Primary Tech support for Sourcing/Manufacturing/Engineering
- Lead effort to reduce COQ and product DPMO
- Perform and lead Customer witness / inspection meetings at suppliers
- Be the other SQE's mentor
- Develop & Conduct SQE training
- Lead supplier critical RCAs or support other business SQEs leading them
- Issue technical data to support Sourcing for critical Vendor Recovery and support the business SQEs
- Execute surveillance audits as per agreed plan
- Identify and Lead Process Capability initiatives
- Monitor Supplier scorecards – Quality Section and ensure accuracy
- Be accountable for functional, business, and broad company Supplier Quality objectives
- Drive Supplier Quality initiatives to continually improve SQE team effectiveness
- Drive root cause identification for Cost of Failure and defect rate for suppliers in your scope
- Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, product line, and commercial teams to eliminate any barriers that may affect the quality and delivery of sourced components
- Be an advocate for standard work within the team
- Be a Lean advocate
- Drive qualification simplification: reduce requirements based on experience, part family quals, etc
- Support meetings with customer at GE factory or at supplier premises to discuss specific technical challenges
- Participate in Design Reviews to optimize manufacturability of new designs
- Lead "special" projects for the commodity: CMM point reduction, net shape on forgings, etc

Eligible to participate in Variable-AIP annual bonus plan that provides a target incentive of 15% of the individual's annual base salary depending on achievement of key business metrics and individual performance.

Base salary: The remuneration is established according to the Metalworking CBA salary scale, which defines job groups and minimum salary levels.
Employer Contribution: 2% (2.2% if under 35). Employee Contribution: 1.2%. Base: monthly gross salary.
