About the Role

Advisor — Investor Relations (Fundraising)

The "Advisor — Investor Relations" role will drive momentum for Viva Benefits' fundraising by re-engaging prior investors, sourcing warm introductions to new ones, and converting outreach into a steady cadence of high-quality meetings. Thisrole is execution-heavy, CRM-driven (HubSpot specifically), and focused on reducing friction for the CEO while turning relationships into measurable week/week fundraising progress.

We are entering a focused fundraising phase and are looking for an Advisor — Investor Relations to help us re-engage our existing investor network, build a new pipeline of aligned seed investors (VCs + Angels welcome), and drive a consistent cadence of high-quality investor meetings. This includes measuring our conversion rates and progress toward our fundraising goals.

This is a highly execution-oriented role for someone who has done this before —who understands the mechanics, psychology, and operational discipline required to support an early-stage raise.

During the interview process you will propose items to include in a paid 2-week sprint which will constitute the final hiring "experience" – where you can both deliver immediate value and outcomes (eg: by the end of your first day) as well as assess the ongoing needs of the Investor Relations process and our CRM (HubSpot), and propose a broader plan of action and improvement – a 30/60/90 day plan you will present after you conclude the 2-week sprint.

Status
  • Opening
  • Can start immediately
  • Target milestone: materially increased investor meeting cadence as soon as January 5
  • Reports To: CEO (Michael Barnes)
Flexible Schedule
  • Minimum commitment: 10 hours per week
  • Ceiling negotiable based on impact and availability
  • Flexible schedule, with responsiveness during business hours as needed
  • This role is outcome-driven, not time-clock-driven
Compensation
  • $25–$50/hour, commensurate with experience
  • Opportunity to revisit scope and compensation based on performance and fundraising progress
Role Objective (What Success Looks Like)
Between now and as soon as January 5, you will help Viva:
  • Re-engage 100+ investors who have previously participated in our fundraising process or invested
  • Build a new, stage-appropriate investor funnel (seed stage; $25k–$1M+ checks) via warm introductions
  • Achieve a steady cadence of ~8 booked investor meetings per week
  • Operationalize the entire investor pipeline in HubSpot CRM, with clear visibility and momentum
Roles & Responsibilities
Investor Funnel & CRM Ownership
  • Build and manage Viva's Investor Relations pipeline in HubSpot
  • Ensure clean data, clear stages, and disciplined follow-up
  • Track outreach, intros, meetings, notes, and next steps with rigor
Re-Engage Existing Investors
  • Thoughtfully re-activate 100+ known investors and prior participants
  • Frame outreach as advice-giving conversations, not transactional asks
  • Coordinate timely scheduling, prep, and follow-ups
New Investor Sourcing (Warm-Intro Only)
  • Identify new angels and VCs aligned with:
    • Pre-seed / seed stage
    • $25k–$1M+ check sizes
  • Proactively surface mutual connections and request warm introductions
  • Work closely with the CEO to prioritize outreach and sequencing
Meeting Cadence & Process Excellence
  • Convert outbound and intro-based engagement into 8+ meetings per week
  • Schedule and manage:
    • Pre-meeting preparation
    • Post-meeting debriefs
    • Clear, timely follow-ups
  • Reduce friction and cognitive load for the CEO wherever possible
Direct, Human Communication
  • Willing and comfortable using calls and texts (when appropriate) to:
    • Prompt introductions
    • Nudge scheduling
    • Maintain momentum
  • This role requires moving beyond social media / email comfort zones
Must-Have Qualifications
  • Direct experience supporting or leading pre-seed and/or seed fundraising (multiple times with references)
  • Well-networked with angels, micro-VCs, and early-stage funds
  • Strong operational instincts; you naturally bring order to messy processes
  • Experience working inside HubSpot CRM
  • High follow-through and responsiveness
  • Willingness to do real execution work—not just strategy
Preferred / Elite Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to secure warm investor introductions quickly
  • Prior experience acting as a founder's "right hand" during a raise
  • Comfort operating with ambiguity and urgency
  • Bonus challenge (optional but telling):
    • Find a mutual investor in our shared network (not already an investor) and schedule an advice-giving meeting with the CEO prior to your final interview
Operating Principles (How We'll Judge Fit)
  • Bias to Action: 10/10
    • You move things forward every week without being asked.
  • Organization & Preparation: 10/10
    • No dropped balls. No mystery pipelines.
  • Ability to Woo (Bonus): 10/10
    • You know how to make busy investors say "yes" to a conversation.
Hiring Team
  • Michael Barnes, Co-Founder & CEO, Viva Benefits
  • Brenden Shue, Director of Partnerships (Sales)
  • José Moreno, Director of Partnerships
