About the Role

Sales Representative

Division of a large North American commodity chemical marketer/trader/broker is looking to fill a Sales Representative position based in Central Connecticut. This home-based position is focused on selling plating & metal finishing chemicals + liquid inorganic chemicals throughout the State of Connecticut. This is an excellent opportunity to join a division of a rapidly growing and entrepreneurial chemical company. The income opportunity is solid, and there are opportunities for advancement. The overnight travel will be minimal <10%.

Responsibilities: Sell a broad range of plating & metal finishing chemicals (Anodes, Anodizing chemicals, Bright Dips, Etchants, Chromates, Phosphating Chemicals, etc.) to the manufacturing markets in CT. Also sell a broad range of commodity liquid inorganic chemicals to multiple end use markets throughout the region. Sell drum, tote, and truckload volumes on a commercial level. Manage and grow all existing business. Prospect for and develop new accounts and new business opportunities. Manage the territory sales strategy. Communicate effectively with management. Travel overnight as needed.

Requirements: 3+ years of chemical industry sales experience. Prefer plating & metal finishing chemical or equipment sales experience. Commodity chemical sales experience with a distributor is also a good fit. A Bachelor's Degree is required, but the concentration is open. Strong sales skills, excellent communication skills, team player, a high level of self-motivation & drive. A good marketplace understanding of all the players and supply chain. Ability to grasp the “big picture” of the territory. Solid computer skills.

Company Information: Division of a growing North American chemical marketer/trader/broker. Supply points throughout the country. Excellent team-oriented culture.

Compensation: Base: $100,000 plus guaranteed commissions first year of $25K. Plus, the existing territory generates approximately $23K in commissions. First year total comp is ~$148K. The commission plan is paid monthly and there is no cap. It's based off total gross profit of the territory. It's based solely on your individual results. The company pays the IRS mileage rate for use of your car for business. Excellent company benefits. Opportunities for career growth and advancement.
