Reason for the position
Based in the Gatineau region, our project engineer will be directly attached to the project manager at our client.
The project engineer will be responsible for intervening on mandates in the hydroelectricity and dam sector. They will manage construction contracts and ongoing engineering mandates in different refurbishment projects, as well as acting as a technical resource for civil and structural disciplines to team members.
Your role:
- Know and apply the health, safety, and environmental policies of our client in the realization of the projects entrusted to them
- Learn the project management tools used (e.g., IFS, end-of-month forecasts, etc.) and use them for the administrative management of projects
- Follow all training required by and attend coordination and maintenance meetings
- With the help of the manager, analyze a project, evaluate the costs, and write the investment request form necessary for the realization of a project
- Define the external engineering mandates required to complete the project, solicit offers, and give and manage engineering contracts
- Produce end-of-month and end-of-year financial statements for the projects entrusted to them
- Carry out projects on various dams in collaboration with engineering firms, organize engineering investigations, and review and comment on reports
- Optimize technical solutions in the interest of efficiency and budget management, while taking into account the priorities of health, safety, security, and the environment
- Supervise construction contracts necessary for the execution of work
- Manage contracts for the completion of work and ensure follow-up both during the planning phase and on the site, and
- As needed, finalize the project on technical (e.g., construction drawings, maintenance manual, training) and administrative (e.g., billing, project closure) plans
Profile sought:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction engineering with a structural profile;
- 3 years and more relevant experience in the field of dams, structures, or bridges;
- ASP card;
- Ability to manage several files simultaneously;
- Creative in finding innovative solutions and a good ability to share knowledge;
- Mastery of MS Project (or equivalent), EXCEL, and WORD software;
- Resourcefulness, autonomy, team spirit, sense of humor, and good work organization;
- Fluency in French and English, both orally and in writing, for occasional exchanges with collaborators and partners located outside the province of Quebec (asset).
