About the Role
Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert - AI Content Specialist
$35-70/hr Remote Freelance STEM
We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help evaluate and improve cutting-edge AI systems trained on advanced scientific content. Your expertise will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex topics like protein folding, metabolic flux, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics — making a real impact on the future of AI in life sciences.
About the Role
Design advanced biochemistry problems across domains such as nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI performance
Author detailed, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as gold-standard benchmarks for AI scientific reasoning
Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical derivations for technical accuracy and adherence to scientific standards
Identify reasoning errors — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied enzyme kinetics — and provide structured feedback to improve AI outputs
Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule

Who You Are
Holds a PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
Strong foundational knowledge in one or more core areas: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, or bioinformatics
Able to communicate highly technical biological and chemical concepts clearly and precisely in written form
High attention to detail when reviewing complex chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on task-based assignments
No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
Prior experience with data annotation, data quality assessment, or evaluation systems
Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
Experience reviewing or writing scientific literature
Why Join Us
Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading AI research labs
Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule, anywhere in the world
Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration
Gain unique exposure to how advanced large language models are trained and evaluated
Contribute to meaningful work that improves AI accuracy in scientific research
Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
