About the Role

LHH is partnering with a non-profit organization in Brooklyn on this temp to hire Payroll Specialist position. We are seeking candidates who are bilingual (English/Spanish) and can handle processing payroll for over 1,000 employees. In addition, the ideal candidate will provide exceptional support to a diverse workforce on any payroll related inquiries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly payroll for a large employee population.
  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, paid time off, benefits deductions, garnishments, and taxes.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and update payroll information as needed.
  • Respond to payroll-related questions from employees in both English and Spanish.
  • Review and audit timesheets, attendance records, and payroll reports for accuracy.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources regarding new hires, terminations, salary changes, and benefit deductions.
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and distribution.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Support payroll reconciliations and assist with payroll-related general ledger entries.
  • Generate payroll reports and assist with audits as required.
  • Handle confidential employee information with professionalism and discretion.
Qualifications
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish (spoken and written) required.
  • 1+ year of payroll processing experience.
  • Proficiency with payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, UKG, Paycom, or similar platforms.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables and vlookups required.
  • Experience supporting union and/or grant-funded employees.
Pay Details: $32.00 to $37.00 per hour
