ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate opening for a for a Plant Operator to support operations at our quarry in Manquin, Virginia. This position will be responsible for operating and monitoring plant equipment, ensuring efficient production, maintaining equipment performance, and conducting timely quality and safety checks.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Operate and monitor crushing, screening, conveying, and processing equipment to maintain consistent aggregate production.
  • Control and adjust plant operations to optimize production rates, material flow, and product quality.
  • Inspect equipment and identify mechanical or operational issues before they result in production delays or breakdowns.
  • Routine maintenance, lubrication, and equipment inspections to support reliable plant performance.
  • Monitor stockpiles, material flow, and product specifications to ensure aggregate meets quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoot plant equipment and make operational adjustments to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Conduct quality checks and sample materials to verify products meet established specifications.
  • Safely operate mobile and fixed plant equipment while following company safety procedures and quarry regulations.
  • Coordinate with quarry, maintenance, and production teams to keep material moving efficiently from extraction through processing.
  • Maintain accurate production, inspection, and maintenance records and communicate equipment or production issues to supervision.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Required Work Experience: 2-5 years of experience operating equipment in an aggregate quarry, crushing plant, mining operation, or similar industrial environment.
  • Experience operating and monitoring crushers, screens, conveyors, feeders, and related processing equipment.
  • Ability to adjust plant controls and equipment settings to maintain production rates and material quality.
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment problems and identifying issues that could cause downtime.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance, including inspections, lubrication, cleaning, and basic equipment upkeep.
  • Experience monitoring aggregate production and material flow from the quarry through the processing plant.
  • Understanding of aggregate quality requirements, including proper sizing, gradation, and product specifications.
  • Ability to perform equipment inspections and quality checks and report deficiencies promptly.
  • Strong understanding of quarry and plant safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and safe equipment operation.
  • Experience working with maintenance and production teams to resolve equipment and operational issues.
  • Ability to read gauges, meters, control panels, and production information and make appropriate operational adjustments.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain production efficiency while minimizing equipment downtime, waste, and safety risks.

Additional Requirements:
Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
