About the OpportunityOur client is a growing and well-established construction company seeking a detail-oriented
Construction Accountant to join their accounting team. This position will play a key role in managing project accounting activities, job costing, month-end close, and financial reporting for multiple construction projects. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the construction industry and a strong understanding of percentage-of-completion accounting, WIP schedules, and project billing.
Responsibilities- Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
- Maintain accurate job cost records and analyze project performance against budgets.
- Prepare and review Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules.
- Assist with percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition calculations.
- Process and track project billings, including AIA billing and retainage.
- Reconcile construction contracts, change orders, and project commitments.
- Support monthly financial statement preparation and management reporting.
- Collaborate with project managers to review project budgets, forecasts, and cost-to-complete estimates.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and construction-in-progress reporting.
- Assist with year-end audits, tax support, and compliance requirements.
- Analyze project variances and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction, engineering, or project-based industries.
- Strong understanding of:
- Job Costing
- Work-in-Progress (WIP) Reporting
- Percentage-of-Completion (POC) Accounting
- Revenue Recognition
- Construction Billing Processes
- Experience with construction ERPs such as Viewpoint Vista, CMiC, Sage 300 CRE, Spectrum, Procore, Foundation, or similar systems.
- Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications- CPA or CPA-track preferred.
- Experience with multi-entity accounting.
- Familiarity with union payroll or prevailing wage projects.
- Experience supporting external audits and bonding company requirements.
Pay Details: $75,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year
