About the Role

Our Client Our client, a large and well-established privately held distribution organization, is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This opportunity is ideal for a strong Staff Accountant or newly promoted Senior Accountant looking to expand their responsibilities within a dynamic, high-volume environment. Reporting to the Accounting leadership team, this position will play a key role in supporting month-end close, fixed asset accounting, freight accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting across a nationwide operation. This role offers excellent exposure to operational accounting, cross-functional collaboration, and long-term career growth. Responsibilities
  • Prepare journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and account reclassifications
  • Perform freight accounting activities including expense analysis, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Manage the fixed asset lifecycle, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation
  • Ensure proper application of capitalization policies and accounting treatment
  • Complete monthly account reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Support and gradually assume ownership of the month-end close process
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
  • Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts and explain fluctuations
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and management reporting packages
  • Identify trends and provide actionable financial insights
  • Partner with operations, logistics, tax, and real estate teams on accounting matters
  • Support annual audits and respond to external auditor requests
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen controls
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2-5+ years of accounting experience
  • Experience within distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or a similar industry preferred
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close
  • Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Pay Details: $30.00 to $35.00 per hour
