About the Role

Staff Accountant
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Compensation: $55k to $60k
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a detail oriented Staff Accountant to join a collaborative accounting team supporting multiple business entities and locations. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month end close activities who enjoys analyzing financial data, solving problems, and partnering with operations to drive accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, accruals, prepaid expenses, and various balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries while ensuring compliance with accounting policies and accounting standards.
  • Analyze banking activity, verify deposits, and validate financial transactions through point of sale and system generated reporting.
  • Provide accounting support across multiple business entities and operational locations.
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations and research discrepancies related to transactions, inventory movement, and pricing variances.
  • Collaborate with operations and cross functional teams to identify, investigate, and resolve accounting issues.
  • Reconcile outstanding items, investigate variances, and ensure timely resolution of accounting exceptions.
  • Support month end close activities, including accruals, prepaid expense accounting, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and reporting preparation.
  • Review and monitor automated accounting processes, auditing system generated data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and financial integrity.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1 to 2 years of accounting experience within a corporate accounting or public accounting environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis functions.
  • Experience working with ERP or accounting software systems. SAP experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Previous experience with intercompany accounting and/or multi entity environments is highly preferred.
