Job Description This position is responsible for providing technical engineering support for Corporate Fire Protection group within the Laboratory Weight Handling and Fire Protection subdivision.The primary function of this group is to ensure that program requirements are developed and maintained to align with current industry requirements and standards to ensure the safety of all employees working at the NNL.

You will be working with a team of engineers to maintain the Program's Building Code Requirements Manual (BCRM) and provide code interpretations based on questions regarding the BCRM from the different NNL sites.Primary stakeholders include NNL Fire Protection Engineering groups, Infrastructure and Maintenance Engineering, Design Engineering, and Construction Engineering.As a corporate role, this position will provide opportunities for visibility and networking with employees at the different NNL sites and across the Company.This position affords opportunities to telework.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Preferred Skills • Experience with the application and interpretation of International Building Codes and NFPA Standards. • Experience in the applicable engineering disciplines (e.g., Fire Protection Engineering, Design Engineering, Maintenance Engineering) • Ability to author, review and edit technical interpretations and guidance documents and facilitate 4-site technical discussion groups.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S.Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A.Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S.Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston.FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations.
