About the Role
HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW
The Associate Director, Trade Compliance supports divisional trade compliance operations across multiple U.S. manufacturing plants. Reporting to the Division Compliance Manager, this individual contributor role oversees export and import compliance matters, supports internal audits and corrective actions, and ensures adherence to ITAR, EAR, U.S. Customs, and related regulatory requirements. This is a remote opportunity with 25-50% travel to various U.S. plant locations.
EXPECTATIONS
Provide guidance on complex import and export activities and regulatory requirements
Develop import and export procedures, processes, and training
Maintain product level HTS& ECCN classification, COO, valuation, etc.
Develop trade compliance procedures and work instructions, conduct training where needed
Act as Empowered Official with authority over export compliance certifications and decisions
Prepare and submit export license applications and exemptions via DECCS and SNAP-R
Utilize the ACE to support EEI filings and generate compliance and KPI reports
Conduct audits and implement remediation and corrective action plans
Collaborate with site & corporate leadership to develop and enhance compliance standards
Monitor regulatory updates and apply necessary changes to processes
ESSENTIALS
7+ years' experience working in trade compliance with a global manufacturer
Bachelor's degree required
Thorough understanding of import and export regulations, including HTS/ECCN classification
Strong knowledge of EAR, export license process
Knowledge of automated compliance tools and ACE system for EEI filing and reporting
Experience with duty drawback or other duty remediation strategies
Audit and risk assessment experience in manufacturing
Excellent communication skills to build trusted relationships and influence decisions
Self-starter with the ability to excel in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
Must be a U.S. person
