Project Engineer
We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the design and construction of utility-scale solar farms. This role involves managing third-party contractor teams to develop engineering designs for solar projects. The position's responsibilities extend from initial concept definition through construction and final commissioning, requiring continuous coordination with various project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage third-party contractor teams in the development of engineering designs for solar projects.
- Coordinate with stakeholders such as environmental, procurement, transmission services, and project managers.
- Apply value engineering principles to balance reliability, cost, and performance for complex systems.
- Lead engineering reviews, value engineering assessments, and design optimization processes.
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of engineering designs, project plans, and system specifications.
- Identify potential design risks and provide corrective recommendations.
- Ensure designs meet project specifications, safety standards, and long-term performance goals.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required. Acceptable disciplines include electrical, civil, mechanical, aerospace, or chemical engineering.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required. Experience managing engineering projects in the solar, BESS, or other power industries is necessary.
Technical Skills: Candidates must possess strong project management, leadership, and communication skills. Knowledge of engineering disciplines including electrical, structural, civil, and materials is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with engineering and project management on utility-scale solar projects.
- Experience successfully managing schedules and budgets for major capital projects.
- Engineering and project management experience in DG/commercial solar, wind, BESS, combined cycle, nuclear, hydrogen, substation, or transmission.
- Experience from outside the power industry, such as aerospace or civil/stormwater, may also be considered.
Work Environment
This position is based in Juno Beach, Florida. Remote work may be considered based on the candidate's experience level, but a preference exists for in-office work. Periodic travel to the Juno Beach office will be expected for remote employees, with more frequent trips during the initial 3-6 months. This role requires up to 25% travel.
