The Opportunity
McCain Industrial is seeking a skilled Industrial Millwright to install, align, maintain, and troubleshoot complex industrial machinery and manufacturing systems.
In this hands-on technical role, you will work directly on field deployments to assemble, position, and calibrate heavy industrial equipment, conveyor lines, and mechanical drives. Working with an old-school expertise firm that values individual craftsmen over employee numbers, you will apply your precision mechanical talents to solve complex industrial challenges across multi-state facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Installation and Assembly: Unload, move, assemble, and position heavy industrial machinery, structural steel bases, and mechanical components using rigging equipment, hoists, and cranes.
- Precision Alignment: Align shafts, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and drive systems to exact tolerances using precision measuring tools, dial indicators, and laser alignment technology.
- Mechanical Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and repair real-time mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment failures on site to maintain client production schedules.
- Field Fabrication and Welding: Perform structural welding, cutting, grinding, and metal fabrication to adapt, mount, or repair equipment components during field installations.
- Work at Elevation: Execute installation, piping, and mechanical assembly work safely at heights while strictly adhering to safety and fall-protection guidelines.
- Field Logistics and Deployment Execution: Participate in out-of-town project stays lasting up to two weeks, keeping tools, hardware, and equipment staging organized.
What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)
- Required
- Industry Tenure: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in industrial machinery installation, millwright work, heavy rigging, or industrial maintenance.
- Blueprint and Technical Literacy: Ability to read and work directly from technical mechanical drawings, assembly schematics, and structural layout plans.
- Field Travel Flexibility: Absolute willingness to travel extensively via ground and air, including overnight out-of-town stays lasting up to 14 consecutive days.
- Mechanical Mechanical Systems Knowledge: Technical familiarity with industrial mechanical components, including bearings, drive systems, gearboxes, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Rigging Capability: Hands-on experience using rigging hardware, chain falls, jacks, and forklifts to safely move heavy machinery.
- Preferred
- Certifications and Licenses: Valid CDL Physical, active equipment operation credentials (forklift, aerial lift, crane), or AWS welding certifications.
- Multi-Trade Skills: Basic functional skills in industrial piping, electrical disconnects/reconnects, or industrial machinery painting.
- Safety Credentials: OSHA 10/30 certification, CPR/First Aid, or specialized rigging/confined space training.
Compensation & Benefits
