Shop Mechanic – Maintain Heavy Equipment & Keep Field Operations Moving

Position Title: Shop Mechanic

Pay Range: $32–$40 per hour, based on experience

Job Overview

Diamond State Masonry Inc. is seeking an experienced **Shop Mechanic** to support the equipment that keeps our field operations running. This is a long-term, full-time opportunity for a skilled mechanic who can independently troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of heavy equipment, company vehicles, small engines, and power tools.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and hydraulic knowledge, takes pride in quality workmanship, and is comfortable responding to equipment issues both in the shop and occasionally at jobsites or roadside locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair company vehicles, heavy equipment, small engines, and power tools.
  • Service and maintain equipment including Lulls, Gradalls, Genie lifts, JLG high-reach equipment, and similar construction machinery.
  • Perform scheduled inspections, routine service, and preventive maintenance.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems and components.
  • Perform welding and fabrication as needed.
  • Respond to vehicle and equipment emergencies, including occasional travel to jobsites or roadside locations.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, maintenance, and completed work.
  • Identify potential equipment problems before they result in breakdowns or unnecessary downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
  • Communicate equipment conditions and repair needs clearly with management and field personnel.
  • Follow company safety procedures and maintain high standards for quality workmanship.

Qualifications

  • Previous hands-on experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment, vehicles, small engines, and power tools.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Hydraulic knowledge is required.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have reliable personal transportation.
  • Must have own tools necessary to perform the position.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Team-oriented with initiative, enthusiasm, and pride in quality workmanship.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and maintaining equipment to a high standard.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CDL license.
  • Previous mechanic experience within construction, masonry, concrete, or heavy civil operations.
  • Experience servicing aerial lifts, telehandlers, Gradalls, Lulls, Genie, JLG, or similar equipment.
  • Advanced hydraulic troubleshooting, welding, and fabrication experience.
