The Opportunity
Lang Constructors Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee commercial and federal construction projects throughout Michigan and other U.S. markets. As a family-owned general contractor serving federal and commercial clients, we manage diverse projects ranging from facility renovations and improvements to multimillion-dollar construction initiatives.
This position is ideal for an experienced commercial construction professional who can independently manage multiple projects, coordinate subcontractors, maintain financial oversight, and communicate effectively with clients and field leadership. Our ideal candidate is based within commuting distance of our Flint headquarters and is comfortable traveling periodically to out-of-state project locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial and federal construction projects from project turnover through final closeout.
- Oversee multiple projects, typically ranging from smaller facility improvements to projects valued between $1 million and $5 million.
- Collaborate with Project Superintendents to develop and maintain construction schedules.
- Manage subcontractor and supplier procurement, buyout, and contract administration.
- Oversee RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
- Monitor project budgets, commitments, cost-to-complete projections, and financial performance.
- Review subcontractor invoices and prepare pencil AIA billings.
- Coordinate project meetings and communication with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Manage construction activities within occupied and operational facilities when required.
- Utilize and adapt to different construction project management software platforms based on client and project requirements.
- Conduct periodic visits to out-of-state projects to support field leadership and maintain project accountability.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum five years of commercial construction experience with demonstrated success as a Project Manager.
- Experience coordinating multiple construction trades and subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of construction schedules, budgets, contract administration, and project documentation.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with construction project management software.
- Ability to adapt to multiple project management platforms.
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Willingness to travel approximately 30%, including occasional overnight and out-of-state trips.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience working on government or federal construction contracts.
- Experience with USPS, GSA, or other government facilities.
- Familiarity with occupied-facility renovation and construction.
- Experience overseeing general contracting projects involving multiple construction disciplines.
