The Opportunity
You will serve as a lead field technician responsible for executing high-quality installations, diagnostic troubleshooting, and complex repairs on commercial overhead doors and loading dock systems. How You Will Make an Impact
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical failures on commercial overhead, rolling steel, and high-performance door systems.
- Execute precise installation and drop testing of fire-rated doors and commercial dock levelers to maintain safety compliance.
- Perform detailed electrical troubleshooting on control boards, safety sensors, limit switches, and LiftMaster commercial operator systems.
- Manage field service calls independently to resolve site issues safely, efficiently, and with minimal supervision.
- Inspect and replace worn counterbalance components, including high-tension springs, drums, cables, and track assemblies.
- Measure, install, and service hydraulic dock seals, shelters, and mechanical leveling equipment for industrial facilities.
- Perform on-site field welding (stick/MIG) to modify, repair, and secure structural steel door frames, track brackets, and loading dock equipment as needed.
- Deliver exceptional customer service as the primary field representative while upholding company quality standards.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience servicing and installing commercial garage doors and dock equipment.
- Strong technical proficiency in mechanical and electrical diagnostic troubleshooting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of both mechanical and hydraulic dock leveler systems.
- Proven ability to independently service springs, cables, drums, tracks, and counterbalance systems.
- Demonstrated experience with Chamberlain and LiftMaster commercial operators, including control board wiring.
- Practical, hands-on experience with stick (SMAW) or MIG (GMAW) welding for structural steel and door/dock components.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% for field assignments beyond a 30-mile radius.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced expertise with high-performance and high-speed commercial door systems.
- Direct experience performing drop testing and certified repairs on fire-rated door assemblies.
- Prior field service experience supporting industrial, government, or federal facility projects.
- Fire door testing certification a plus
- Formal welding trade training or AWS certification is a plus.
