The Opportunity
You will serve as the senior field leader directing full-scale commercial and federal construction builds across our Chicago operations. This role empowers you to orchestrate on-site safety, drive trade execution, and spearhead lean field management for high-value projects valued at $5M and above. You will lead field teams with autonomy while working alongside an engaged executive leadership group invested in your success.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Lead overall on-site field operations, safety protocols, and quality control execution from preconstruction through final handover.
- Develop, monitor, and enforce critical path project schedules, including 2-week and 4-week look-ahead plans and monthly narratives.
- Direct weekly site coordination meetings and drive Lean Construction sessions with trade subcontractors and self-perform teams.
- Partner with the Project Manager to review monthly job costs, direct field labor allocations, and control cost projections.
- Supervise self-perform scopes, manage field trade logistics, and enforce contract specification compliance across all building phases.
- Guide building systems commissioning, lead Owner systems training, and execute comprehensive warranty walk-throughs.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering, or equivalent documented field management experience.
- 10 to 15 years of construction management experience leading new ground-up and renovation commercial projects valued at $5M+.
- Active 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety card, First Aid and CPR certifications, 24-Hour Fall Protection, and 8-Hour Scaffolding Training.
- Thorough technical knowledge of MEP+FP building systems, local building codes, and USACE EM 385-1-1 safety standards.
- Advanced proficiency in construction software including Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong background in managing subcontracts, directing self-perform field labor, and maintaining site-wide quality assurance.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Demonstrated background leading Federal, industrial, research laboratory, or science and technology construction contracts.
- Experience actively participating in Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination and clash-detection reviews.
