About the Role

Snow Removal Equipment Operator – Clear Commercial Sites for U.S. Lawns of Macomb/Troy

Company: U.S. Lawns of Macomb/Troy

Pay: $25 – $38 per hour, based on experience

Location: Clinton Township, MI, with equipment stationed throughout Macomb County and parts of Oakland County

Employment Type: Seasonal / On-Call

Schedule: Snow events, including overnight, early morning, weekend and holiday shifts

The Opportunity

Put your equipment operating experience to work this winter without necessarily leaving your current job.

U.S. Lawns of Macomb/Troy is hiring experienced equipment operators to support commercial snow and ice removal operations throughout Macomb and Oakland counties.

We operate a modern fleet of enclosed, heated equipment and maintain organized commercial properties with established snow removal plans.

Many of our operators also work in construction, earthmoving, or landscaping. If your primary work slows down during Michigan winters, this is an opportunity to earn competitive hourly pay operating equipment you already know.

This is storm-dependent work. Hours are not guaranteed and depend on weather conditions and operational needs.

What You'll Do

  • Operate skid steers and wheel loaders equipped for commercial snow removal.
  • Clear parking lots, access roads, drive lanes and designated commercial areas.
  • Follow property-specific snow maps and equipment instructions.
  • Operate safely around buildings, parked vehicles, curbs and other obstacles.
  • Inspect assigned equipment before and after use.
  • Communicate equipment issues and site conditions with supervisors.
  • Respond reliably when dispatched for snow events.
  • Use a simple mobile application to clock in and out.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience operating skid steers, wheel loaders or comparable heavy equipment.
  • Good judgment and safe equipment operating habits.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable transportation to assigned work locations.
  • Availability for variable, on-call snow events, including overnight shifts.
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors by phone.
  • Willingness to follow site-specific plans and safety procedures.

Preferred:

  • Previous commercial snow removal experience.
  • Experience working in construction, excavation, landscaping or earthmoving.
  • Familiarity with commercial properties in Macomb and Oakland counties.

A driver's license is not required for equipment-only assignments where operators do not drive company vehicles on public roads.

Why Join U.S. Lawns of Macomb/Troy?

  • 25–38 per hour based on experience.
  • Weekly direct deposit.
  • Modern, well-maintained equipment, including enclosed heated cabs.
  • Multiple equipment locations throughout the service area, allowing assignment consideration closer to home.
  • Organized commercial routes with site maps and supervisor support.
  • Streamlined hiring and digital onboarding.
  • Opportunities to return for future winter seasons.
  • Potential spring and summer employment opportunities for strong performers, subject to availability and qualifications.

What to Expect

Snow removal schedules depend entirely on Michigan weather. Some events require operators to report late at night or very early in the morning, while others occur during the day.

This position is ideal for experienced operators who want supplemental winter income and can remain available for storm events.

Our hiring process is straightforward: a conversation about your experience and availability, followed by an equipment or site review when appropriate.
