About the Role

Description

Purpose:

The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical transformers and related equipment at customer sites. This role ensures that transformers are installed and operating safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and customer requirements. The Field Service Technician will work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to support product performance and customer satisfaction.

Duties:
  • Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and testing of transformers and associated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in the field and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform transformer diagnostics, including insulation resistance testing, ratio testing, and other electrical tests.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
  • Document service activities, test results, and findings through detailed service reports.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers regarding the operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, company policies, and customer site requirements. Confidential document - unauthorized disclosure is prohibited.
  • Support warranty evaluations, failure analysis, and root cause investigations.
  • Maintain and manage service tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
  • Travel up to 50-75% to customer sites as required (domestic and occasional international travel may be required).

Requirements
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience will be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical equipment service, industrial maintenance, or transformer service preferred.
  • Experience working with medium or high voltage equipment is highly desirable.
  • Experience in power distribution equipment, switchgear, or transformer manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and power distribution equipment.
  • Ability to perform electrical testing and diagnostics on transformers.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with transformer components, including windings, bushings, tap changes, and cooling systems.
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment and diagnostic tools.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
