Enterprise Leadership Role

In this enterprise leadership role, you will be responsible for building and leading UnitedHealth Group's resilience and global crisis management capability. Design and run a world-class crisis management function for a large, complex, highly regulated organization, including 24/7 response coordination, executive-level reporting, playbooks, governance, and after-action improvement. Oversee key resilience disciplines including disaster recovery, business continuity, and resiliency standards across internal operations and critical third-party dependencies.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Hybrid in MN/DC: This position follows a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leading escalations and coordination for critical incidents across a 24/7 model
  • Designing and maturing crisis doctrine, activation frameworks, playbooks, and after-action reviews
  • Overseeing disaster recovery, business continuity, and broader enterprise resilience practices
  • Building clear executive and Board-level communications during incidents
  • Coordinating across security, IT, legal, compliance, communications, business leaders, and external/government partners
  • Developing & leading a federated enterprise capability across geographies and functions
  • Establishing a clear enterprise crisis management operating model with defined escalation paths, decision rights, and communications protocols
  • Creating a well-structured, repeatable executive briefing process / daily operations report for senior leaders
  • Assessing our current resilience and crisis management maturity
  • Modernizing or building crisis playbooks and after-action review processes
  • Improving incident reporting & metrics to ensure leaders actionable visibility
  • Running meaningful exercises/tabletops that test our readiness and improve coordination

You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of leading crisis response and preparedness for large, global organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead during high-pressure incidents with incomplete information
  • Deep expertise in enterprise resilience, including crisis management, business continuity, and disaster recovery
  • Exceptional logic, structure, and communication skills
  • History of successfully communicating clearly with technical teams, executives, and Board-level stakeholders
  • Proven matrix leadership and cross-functional coordination skills
  • Ability to drive process discipline, standardization, and change across a large, global enterprise
  • Past experience leading teams of 25+ crisis management and resilience professionals

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Military leadership background
  • Healthcare experience
  • Third-party / supply chain resilience experience
  • Experience with government agencies, regulatory reporting, and international coordination
  • Experience creating executive daily briefing or intelligence-style reporting
  • Lean / process reengineering background

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $200,400 to $343,500 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
