Middle School Teacher: Reading Specialist (August 2026)

The Upper Darby School District is seeking applicants for a Middle School Reading Specialist teacher position.

Qualifications:

1. PA Instructional Certificate: Reading Specialist (PK-12)
2. Out-of-state educators and anyone seeking an emergency certificate should review the guidelines set by the PA Department of Education. Pennsylvania Certification information is available at:
3. BA required in appropriate major study
4. Knowledge of content in area of certification
5. Classroom/group management skills
6. Ability to use instructional materials and equipment
7. Knowledge of child growth and development
8. Instructional skills
9. Planning Skills
10. Human Relations Skills
11. Must be able to organize a classroom to deliver the Upper Darby School District academic program
12. Strong communication and motivational skills
13. Ability to effectively communicate with, instruct, and work with students, staff and parents/guardians

   To participate, as a member of the instructional staff, in directing the learning of middle school students. Such participation shall be directed toward attainment of general and specific objectives of the curricula of the school, and of the school district.
