Job Description Summary:

About the Division for Student AffairsThe Division for Student Affairs (DSA) engages with students throughout all phases of the student lifecycle. DSA's integrated approach is to provide a cohesive student experience built upon three core values: genuine collaboration, a comprehensive approach to problem-solving, and most importantly, putting students at the center of all that we do.

Position SummaryThe Student Program Associate, Student Organization Support provides critical support and guidance to student organizations through fiscal responsibility, operational procedures and administrative support and training. This role will help oversee GW OrgHelp, which offers centralized financial, administrative, and event planning services to 500+ student organizations through email support and drop-in office hours.

Key Responsibilities
Student Organization Support
  • Design and distribute comprehensive training materials and web resources regarding university policies, event planning protocols, and procedural compliance.
  • Support student organizations in the effective management of funds, providing direct guidance on fiscal responsibility and the navigation of university procure to pay (P2P) or procurement systems.
  • Serve as the primary voice for student organization leaders by authoring the Student Organizations newsletter and managing multi-channel communications (email, web, and social media).
  • Provide support for complex event planning, ensuring student groups successfully navigate the intersection of institutional policy and creative programming.
Operations Management and Service Excellence
  • Direct the daily operations of GW Org Help, ensuring the drop-in and email support services provide efficient, high-quality, and student-centered assistance.
  • Serve as a power user for Campus Groups, leveraging the platform to manage student organization logistics, including financial transactions, travel reservations, and contract processing.
  • Support the design and implementation of expanded services for Org Help, including the management of equipment rentals, printing/copying services, and continuous brand marketing.
  • Design and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Org Help desk to ensure inquiries are triaged, tracked, and resolved with maximum efficiency.
  • Support a data collection framework to track Org Help volume, common "pain points" for students, and staff response times
Student Staff Development and Supervision
  • Lead the full lifecycle of the Org Help undergraduate staff, including recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing supervision. Manage office scheduling, task delegation, and professional development.
  • Establish and enforce student-centric service standards for the Org Help desk, coaching staff to deliver empathetic, solution-oriented support in both walk-in and digital environments.
  • Provide onboarding and continuous coaching/training to student staff with a focus on professional competencies and career readiness
  • Act as the primary point of contact for complex issues escalated by student staff, navigating high-stakes situations with diplomacy and institutional knowledge.
The position is based at GW's Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC, and may require travel across campuses. The position may also include regular evening hours in support of Org Help operations.
