Our mission is to deliver engaging, practical, and evidence-informed training that strengthens the workforce serving individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

Position Summary

Outreach Training Institute is seeking experienced Adjunct Instructors to facilitate live virtual training courses for adult learners. We are looking for dynamic educators who can create interactive, engaging online learning environments and effectively translate complex behavioral health concepts into practical applications for students.

Curriculum and training materials are provided. Instructors are responsible for delivering course content, facilitating discussions and activities, managing virtual classrooms, and supporting learner engagement and success.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate live virtual classes using OTI-provided curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Create an engaging and interactive online learning environment.
  • Lead discussions, activities, and exercises that promote learner participation and knowledge retention.
  • Maintain professional and inclusive classroom standards.
  • Provide timely communication and support to students as needed.
  • Collaborate with OTI staff regarding course delivery and learner progress.
  • Attend instructor orientation and periodic faculty meetings as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, Public Health, Education, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated formal teaching, training, or instructional experience in academic, professional development, workforce development, or continuing education settings. Please note: Experience limited solely to providing psychoeducation, counseling, or therapeutic groups to clients does not meet the instructional experience requirement.
  • Professional experience working with individuals affected by substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Experience facilitating virtual learning environments and using online learning platforms.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and group facilitation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching adult learners in higher education, workforce development, certification, or continuing education programs.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices related to substance use and co-occurring disorders.
  • Experience training behavioral health professionals, peer specialists, case managers, or human services staff.
  • Familiarity with interactive online teaching methods and learner engagement strategies.
What We're Looking For

Successful candidates are:

  • Energetic and engaging facilitators.
  • Comfortable teaching and interacting with diverse groups of adult learners.
  • Skilled at encouraging participation and discussion in virtual settings.
  • Organized, reliable, and responsive.
  • Passionate about workforce development and behavioral health education.
To Apply

Please submit:

  • Resume/CV
  • Brief cover letter describing your teaching/training experience and experience working with substance use and co-occurring disorders
  • Any relevant teaching evaluations, training samples, or professional certifications (optional)
