About the Role

Senior Director, Accounting & Financial Reporting

Procore is looking for a Senior Director, Accounting & Financial Reporting to join our Finance team. In this role, you will lead and mature our corporate accounting, revenue accounting, technical accounting, SEC reporting, and M&A accounting functions. You will drive process efficiencies through technology and AI, and partner cross-functionally to support Procore's strategic initiatives.

You will leverage your deep technical accounting expertise, public company experience, and leadership skills to build a high-performing team, improve operational processes, and ensure the integrity of Procore's financial reporting. Please reach out to us with your interest or apply today!

This role reports to the SVP, Corporate Controller and is remote-eligible, with a preference for candidates based near our offices in Austin, TX or Carpinteria, CA. We're looking for someone to join us immediately.

What you'll do:

  • Lead and mature corporate accounting, revenue accounting, technical accounting, and SEC reporting functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with US GAAP and SEC requirements.
  • Oversee M&A accounting diligence and post-close accounting integration, including purchase accounting, working closely with Corporate Development to support deal execution and ensure acquired entities are properly integrated into Procore's financial reporting.
  • Own SOX accounting controls, continuously optimizing controls and processes to improve efficiency while maintaining a strong internal control environment.
  • Drive process efficiencies across the accounting organization, including through the adoption of AI and automation technologies to reduce manual effort and improve data quality.
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Legal, Corporate Development, Sales, Strategy, IT, and other stakeholders to support new strategic initiatives and ensure accounting readiness.
  • Manage relationships with Procore's external auditors, coordinating audit activities, resolving technical accounting matters, and ensuring timely completion of quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Lead technical accounting research and documentation, including drafting accounting position papers and ensuring appropriate application of new and evolving accounting standards.
  • Coach, mentor, and grow a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional development.

What we're looking for:

  • 12+ years of experience in accounting or related roles, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership position and a demonstrated track record of building and scaling high-performing teams.
  • Public company SEC reporting experience required, including preparation or oversight of 10-K, 10-Q, and related disclosures.
  • Strong US GAAP technical accounting expertise; Big 4 public accounting experience and/or public company technical accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with M&A accounting, including accounting diligence, purchase accounting, and post-close accounting integration of acquired businesses.
  • Demonstrated ownership of SOX compliance programs, including control design, optimization, and coordination with internal and external auditors.
  • Experience leveraging technology and AI to drive accounting process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional partnership skills, with the ability to work effectively with FP&A, Legal, Corporate Development, IT, and executive leadership.
  • Experience within the Technology or SaaS industry preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA required.

Base Pay Range: 204,800.00 - 281,600.00 USD Annual

This role may also be eligible for Equity Compensation and/or Bonus Incentive Compensation. Procore is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate's job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location.

For Los Angeles County (unincorporated) Candidates:

Procore will consider for employment all qualified applicants, including those with arrest or conviction records, in accordance with the requirements of applicable federal, state, and local laws, including the City of Los Angeles' Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers, and the California Fair Chance Act.

A criminal history may have a direct, adverse, and negative relationship on the following job duties, potentially resulting in the withdrawal of the conditional offer of employment: 1. appropriately managing, accessing, and handling confidential information including proprietary and trade secret information, as well as accessing Procore's information technology systems and platforms; 2. interacting with and occasionally having unsupervised contact with internal/external customers, stakeholders, and/or colleagues; and 3. exercising sound judgment.
