• Days, 7am-5pm (10-hour shifts)
• No call requirements

Requirements

• Board Certified ANCC/AANP
• California License
• California DEA
• BLS, ACLS

Required Procedures / Skills

• Dressing changes
• Drain and suture removal
• Debridement and closure of wounds skin and subcutaneous
• Cervical spine clearance
• Laceration repair
• Manipulation and removal of External Ventricular drains, lumbar drains, and subdural drains
• Removal of Intracranial pressure monitors
• Ordering of spinal braces

Assignment Details

• Setting: Inpatient, Emergency
• Patient population: 18 yrs +
• Number of beds: 265
• Support staff: Neurosurgeon on call
• Charting/EMR: Cerner
• Round and evaluate all patients on the neurosurgery service
• Coordinate care of neurosurgical patients with the neurosurgeon on call, including giving orders, writing notes, removing drains, and related duties
• Coordinate and communicate care with medical providers and allied healthcare staff including nursing, case management, and social work
• Communicate with patients' families
• Write daily progress notes, discharge instructions, discharge summaries, and consultation notes
• Evaluate new consults
• Communicate changes in care plan, neurological assessment, and concerns to the neurosurgeon on call in a timely manner
