Credit part-time, adjunct faculty teaching positions in ESL. Opportunities may be available at the Bethlehem, PA campus, Monroe campus located in Tannersville, PA and/or online. All courses are scheduled for weekday mornings or evenings. Most classes will meet in person; remote teaching options are limited.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provide high quality English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction at specific levels and skill areas; hold office hours for academic consultation for students.
• Provide learner centered instruction with appropriate assessment.
• Create course syllabi and lesson plans following the ESL department established curriculum guidelines; integrate a variety of sound instructional methods and technology into daily classes.
• Produce relevant and reliable assessment tools and conduct routine assessment to evaluate student progress throughout the semester.
• Carry out final assessment for each course which reflects the material taught throughout the semester.
• Maintain the ESL department's mission and policies.
• Collaborate with ESL staff on programs, curriculum, and activities.
• Provide culturally appropriate classroom leadership.
• Attend training and staff meetings as required.
Qualifications:
•Master's degree in TESOL or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution
•Demonstrated knowledge of language teaching and learning
•College teaching experience preferred
•Ability to work with diverse groups of students
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
Special Instructions:
The number of adjunct instructors hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department and the College. Please understand that there may not presently be an adjunct position available at the time of your application. When an opening becomes available, the hiring manager will look to this pool of candidates for consideration. If hired, official transcripts will be required from all undergraduate and graduate universities attended before a contract is issued.
