Senior Director, Enterprise Risk, Quality & Patient Safety
The Senior Director, Enterprise Risk, Quality & Patient Safety provides strategic and operational leadership for the organization's enterprise risk management, insurance, quality, patient safety, and performance improvement programs. This role integrates clinical and business risk strategies to ensure regulatory compliance, protect organizational assets, and improve patient outcomes.
The Senior Director partners with executive leadership and operational teams to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risk while advancing a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Primary Tasks And Responsibilities:
- Lead enterprise-wide Risk Management, Quality, Patient Safety, and Insurance functions
- Develop and implement an integrated Enterprise Risk and Quality strategy aligned to organizational goals
- Oversee risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and reporting across all business units
- Establish and maintain enterprise dashboards to monitor risk, quality, and patient safety metrics
- Lead performance improvement initiatives to reduce variation and improve outcomes
- Oversee root cause analysis processes and ensure effective corrective action implementation
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards (CMS, AHCA,
- Lead survey readiness, accreditation, and certification activities
- Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to address systemic risks and improve care delivery
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on risk exposure and quality performance
- Build and lead high-performing teams across risk, quality, and patient safety
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Travel to clinic locations to support quality, risk, and patient safety initiatives
- Oversight of Quality Committee and Patient Safety Organization
- Support insurance programs, including malpractice and cyber risk
Education/Certifications & Licenses:
- Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Nursing, Public Health, or related field, required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), strongly preferred
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license, preferred
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), required
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), required or obtained within 2 years
- Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), preferred
- Valid state driver's license, required
Experience:
- Minimum 12–15 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare risk management, quality, patient safety, and/or clinical operations
- Multi-state healthcare experience, required
- Experience managing enterprise risk programs, insurance, and claims, required
- Experience leading quality and patient safety initiatives in ambulatory or hospital settings, required
- Demonstrated success in regulatory compliance, accreditation, and survey readiness (CMS, AHCA, TJC)
- Proven ability to lead enterprise-level performance improvement initiatives
