About the Role

LHH is working with a large nonprofit organization to support their need for an Interim Assistant Controller. This is a 6-month contract position based in Midtown Manhattan and requires five days in the office. We are seeking someone with a strong background in fund accounting, grants, and complex funding structures. Apply today for immediate consideration!
Primary Functions
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, general ledger reconciliations, and balance sheet reviews
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reports, forecasts, and variance analysis
  • Manage bank reconciliations and resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Develop cost allocation plans and monthly allocation schedules across programs and funding sources
  • Handle program-related vouchers and track and reconcile receivables
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, fiscal policies, regulatory requirements, and annual tax filings
  • Support internal and external audits, accounting procedures, and process improvements
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Relevant industry experience is preferred
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting, fund accounting, and grant compliance
  • Experience with Sage Intacct, Oracle, or similar accounting/ERP systems
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups; financial modeling a plus)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven environment
$50-65/hr
